96 How Renee Conquers Mom Guilt

A conversation with Renee Reina, host of The Mom Room Podcast, about mom guilt, comparisons, toxic mom culture, and the division of labor at home.

Renee Reina is a lot of things. She’s funny, she’s real, she’s smart, and she is a fierce defender of mothers, especially in that fragile time when we’re recovering from childbirth and trying to figure out this new identity. In fact, if you need a minute and would rather not have anyone visit you right after you have your baby, call Renee. She’ll meet them at the door and send them on their way.

Renee is a also a mother of a three-year-old son. She finished her PHD in psychology right as the pandemic began and turned to Tiktok as a place to explore this new world of motherhood. Her open, funny, and very real content soon attracted a large following of other moms, including me. She turned this into The Mom Room, a virtual living room which also includes a fantastic podcast by that name, where Renee does a great job of mixing deep, meaningful conversations with humor and entertainment. You can follow her on Tiktok and Instagram @reneereina_ and listen to The Mom Room Podcast anywhere you listen to podcasts.

Last fall, Renee and I had a great conversation about mom guilt, comparisons, toxic mom culture, and we even veer off at the end and talk about the division of labor at home.
